The summit was held at  East China Normal University in Pudong. The campus is landscaped with trees, a river filled with lily pads, and an enormous statue of Mao Zedong waving his hand in greeting.

Lori gave a well received seminar to the students of ECNU. The teachers from the U.S. attended seminars on "Challenges and New Approaches to Chinese Language Education," "Best Practices in World Languages Teaching" and "Chinese Language Teaching: Art or Science?"
