First Impressions

View from outside my hotel window. Construction projects are in progress as far as the eye can see.

It seems like everyone in Shanghai owns a bicycle.

Morning traffic
Shanghai is a city of amazing contrasts. There are modern high rises and western style shops and restaurants everywhere. Yet traffic rules seem to be non-existent. Bicyclists, motorcyclists, bus and taxi drivers alike seem to drive with a sense of reckless abandonment. Crossing the street is subsequently an extremely risky feat not to be attempted by the inexperienced or faint of heart.
