Seafood 海鲜 haixian
The very word for seafood in Chinese 海鲜 haixian, means fresh from the sea. As a seaport Shanghai is known for its great variety of seafood dishes. These shrimp we had at a local Shanghainese restaurant were swimming around freely just moments before. Look how enormous and pink they are and how black the eyes. They were so tender you could eat the whole thing - shells, legs, antennae and all - which many of us did!
