Our Partner School

Our primary focus during our visit to China was to establish contacts with our partner school - The Shanghai United International School. The school has two tracks - the international bilingual track which follows the IB curriculum, and the local track in which all classes are taught completely in Chinese. The school is split into several different campuses. The campus we visited housed the elementary school.

The day we visited was Book Day. Students were dressed up as characters from their favorite books.   There was a book fair being held and an assembly with visiting author and illustrator Trevor Lai.

We observed an art class where students were working on some wonderful sculptures.

Student sculptures of favorite objects

We were very impressed by the school. There is an English corner where students can do pretend activities while practicing their English language skills.

The library was a sprawling modern space with a reading corner where students could sit on the rugs and listen to stories.

The lobby was beautifully decorated with posters of different countries suspended from the ceiling.

Even the bathrooms were beautiful!
